Money Can't Buy Happiness, But it Can Buy Makeup!

It's not hoarding if it's makeup! So, in my usual drugstore search, I discovered a new brand and decided to give some of it's products a go! A few friends and coworkers have suggested it, so I figured why not?! This brand on trial is NYX , it's products: "Pin-Up Tease" mascara, "Push Up Bra" eyebrow pencil, "Super Skinny Marker" liquid liner! This is my current eye routine: I use Younique Moonstruck Fiber Lashes, e.l.f. eyebrow kit, and e.l.f. eyeliner "Kohl" pencil. I used to be a presenter for Younique but selling makeup via social networking was just not for me, however, this mascara is amazing! I am almost out and plan on trying their newest mascara. It is also a two part system, gel and fibers, but it supposed to be waterproof! I use this the eyeliner for the inside of the lower lid and and on the outside of the top lid using the smudger on the end. As for the eyebrow kit, it came with this measly, teeny brush, tha...

The Budgeted Blonde, MD-DNP

Happy Friday Eve!! Finally, it's my weekend! In celebration, I treated myself to my favorite Mexican, glass of Apothic, and catching up on the DVR. Recently, I heard a commercial on Pandora for a new medical drama on NBC, Heartbeat. Normally, I am really skeptic of these since I have a medical background, am working toward a medical career and they can sometimes be unrealistic! I worked for 5 years in a medical office in my hometown, during the time I specialized in OB/GYN, pediatrics, internal medicine, and phlebotomy. With this, I have always tried but failed to become obsessed with any medical drama. I recorded this show on a whim, especially since they described the main character to be a surgeon who plays by her own rules, my kind of girl!! Watching this pilot, I slowly fell in love with this character; her sass and wittiness is similar to mine so it wasn't really that difficult, plus she's also a blonde!! The first episode was (SPOILER ALERT) her separa...

Get Your Glow On!

Happy Wine Wednesday!! As I sip my red blend, I get excited knowing that soon it will be white wine season aka SUMMER!!! Wine spritzers, sunshine, being out on the water and longer days are ahead! With all that sunshine comes a little more maintenance to keep skin hydrated and looking amazing all the while preventing serious wrinkles! Whether we'd like to admit it or not, they'll show sooner or later! No thank ya ma'am! I decided to share with y'all a few of the products that I love thus far! Hoping they become permanent summer staples! First off, I use a bb cream and foundation from e.l.f.. I blend two different shades since I have a yellow base to my skin and have gotten a little tan. I apply and use a blending bud, these bad boys are the bees knees! I love this brand! It is inexpensive, sold at Target, CVS and Walgreens! Good for this girl's budget! I love these foundations since they have SPF built-in! They don't clog pores and don't leave a ...

For the Love of Breakfast

Happy hump day!    It's almost noon and I'm still in pj's with my hunk eating a little brunch, I thought I'd share the healthy but yummy recipe I whipped up!    Today babe flies out to SoCal and we are spending the morning relaxing before we have to start adulting! We woke up late and he was craving biscuits and gravy, I love breakfast foods! I don't care if it's 4 in the morning or 11 at night, bring on the biscuits! Recently, I found a biscuits and gravy casserole that I loved and my biggest reason for doing a casserole instead of just making biscuits and gravy is that it's less mess, will hold for more than one day which means less waste! I tweaked this recipe to be healthier since I'm doing my 30-day challenge by using turkey bulk sausage, less salt, and reduced fat milk. I put this in an 8x8 or 9x9 square glass baking dish with a lid so I can store for easy breakfasts throughout the week!  Ingredients: 16 oz Jenny-O lean ground turkey...

Oh, Where did the Weekend Go?

How in the world is it already Monday night?  Time flies when you're having fun! This weekend was busy busy for this gal! I had two of our close friends come into town and we put some mileage walking around Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure! It was so great to finally see them after too long apart! The only downside, and I don't believe I've mentioned this before that my beau works out of town about 80% of the time. It is a recent position change so we are still getting used to the new routine, this was one of the weekends where I really missed him but I adore his commitment to his career and providing for us! He is definitely a great man! Sorry for the sidebar, lol! My friends will be returning again this weekend for me to meet their little girl, she is a tad too teeny to be out in the crazy crowds! I love that our friends are all having little ones for us to love and spoil! I am definitely that fun, crazy aunt!! My favorite job! There will be photo...

How the Budgeted Blonde Gets Fit

Happy Friday y'all!   I obviously have an obsession with hair and makeup tricks, however, I also have a passion for fitness! I have goals that I am bound and determine to achieve! I have not yet mentioned that I am a type one diabetic, I was diagnosed about 3 years ago and am doing pretty well. It put a ton of things into perspective for me and forced me to grow up, in a way it was a blessing in disguise because it keeps me focused with my diet and exercise. I really hate the term "diet", I consider it a habit and a lifestyle. In the health and fitness world, there are a lot of misconceptions about what males and females should do or not do and a ton of opinionated people. I don't want to set foot on a bikini competition stage, I just want to achieve the goal I have in mind!   I follow a few ladies on Instagram who inspire and motivate me daily, buffbunny and HunnyBuns . I get tips on changing up workouts, healthy meals and snacks, and they become the pi...

Slap on a Little Lipstick and Pull Yourself Together!

It's hump day!  Halfway to the weekend, which usually means nothing to me since I work at a restaurant in a massive theme park! However, this weekend I have one of my closest friends coming to visit and I couldn't be more excited!! She was behind the motivation for me to start this blog, so yall be thankful! Heading into work, I wanted to post just a little something! First off, this blog is means more to me than just an outlet to express myself. It is becoming a way of releasing confidence that I've built up within myself in the last few years. I used to be the girl who threw on whatever slightly matched and didn't give a second glance at my roots or makeup! If I put eyeliner on, I would stun my beau at the time! Since then, I've grown to love myself and learn what makes me feel beautiful, now I want to share that knowledge! Quite wise, haha that's literally laughable! But if some person is taking time out of their day to read this, then I must be ...

Toning Ain't Just For Abs

This will be third and final part of the bleaching post! I hope everything in the last two posts gave some lovely lady a little more knowledge and confidence about doing this at home! This isn't to say that I know everything about doing hair, I am by no means a stylist!! However, if you are a control freak like me and love to do things on your own terms, then you understand the struggle! Getting bleached is just the first step in getting to the color you desire! Toning is where the end result and final product is decided! After you have stripped the color with the bleach, choose what toner will get you to your dream look! I used Wella T11 and T18 in a 1:1 ratio, it is mixing lightest beige blonde and ice blonde together. I gives me a little look without going platinum and also gives me the texture I love! The following were pins that inspired my look:   Toners also require a developer, I used 30 vol. in the Ion brand for sensitive scalps. Remember, bleach is a chemical...

The Basics of Becoming Blonde

Cheers,  it's round two! Happy Tuesday all! My morning started out like a typical Tuesday with traffic, coffee, and a giant waste of gas! But the silver lining, I have time to blog it up!! One thing I wanted to mention before continuing with explaining my personal blonding experience was that I started out with very healthy hair that hadn't been dyed for almost a year. So, for those of you who dye your locks quite frequently, you may want to discontinue for awhile and allow your hair to get a little healthy before shocking it! Just a little side note that popped in my head while in traffic this morning!! So, to recap, the supplies I purchased my first go round were as follows: •bleaching kit, initially I bought one but ended up needing to get a second while bleaching! May want to plan ahead and buy two for "just in case" purposes! •toners •purple shampoo (will explain further shortly) •moisturizing conditioning treatment I already had gloves, bowl/brus...

Putting the "Blonde" in Budgeted Blonde

Warning: this is the first of a many part post! I recently I went from a boring brunette to a blonde bombshell! Prior to moving to Orlando, I went from salon blonde to a box brown to keep my hair low maintenance until I could find a stylist locally. After a year of babe asking when I'm going back to my blonde locks and me not-so-secretly missing it, I decided to start researching what it would take to get back to the color I loved! I went from blogs to YouTube, Instagram hair sensations and straight up old school internet research before gaining the confidence to doing it at home, by myself! Eek!! I subscribe to Elle Bangs , an amazing stylist from Cali to learn about the biggest do's and don't's about bleaching at home. Some YouTubers are a little flaky so I had to weed out the crazies and learn who was a reliable source! After all this, about a week of convincing myself I could actually do this, and about a bottle of red zin, I was ready!! I started with...

Introduction of the Budgeted Blonde

Welcome to my very first post on this new adventure! I thought I'd start by easing you into my chaotic life with a snazzy introduction! I'm a twenty-something living in Central Florida with my hunk working toward our goals one day at a time! I'm a blonde who loves the sunshine and a good tube of lipstick, in the pinks or reds preferably! I'm originally from a small town in South Florida so the hustle of this seemingly big town gets a little overwhelming sometimes, I tend to escape back home to unwind with my ridiculously adorable nieces! I am currently attending the university here for my career in the medical field, hoping to have my nursing license by next December( and not stopping there but that's another post). But just because I like to don scrubs doesn't mean I don't love to look like I'm going to my high school reunion! My intentions for this blog is to show how easy it is to look gorgeous on a budget, cook like Martha flippin Stewart, have ...
