My Oh My, It's Strawberry Pie!

There is just something about my mama's cooking that made a normal Wednesday feel like a special occasion. Growing up, Spring was signified by a surprise of two strawberry pies in the fridge after school. One for us, one for a family member, sometimes three or four more just because my mom loves gifting with desserts! Lately, I have been dying for my mom's strawberry pie. Mainly because she flaunted that she made some the other day and it's all I can think about. I haven't had it since my diagnosis and I really hated the fact that the recipe contains 1 cup of sugar AND strawberry jello. Definitely a no-go for me! So I made it low-carb! Unfortunately, Brad was not a fan, but that just means more for me! I will acknowledge that the change the "diet" products was tough but now that I'm used to it, most things are just too sweet. I am looking forward to devouring this pie all week long!! Right outta mama's notebook! I substituted Stevia for the suga...

Just a Little Steam Punk

This update is way overdue but I haven't really been in the mood for blogging. I love to blog but I have to be in the creative mindset! Something like a writer's block, I guess. This past weekend was a busy one but full of fun! We had a few visitors come and explore new places with us! On Friday, Brad's friend from West Palm came to see the house, while here we ventured out to Universal Studios. Bradley loves those rides, even though I could take it or leave it especially since working there, I am a good sport and go along for the fun. The guys would go ride and I hung back relaxing while they enjoyed. I am not a huge adrenaline junkie much anymore, I'm assuming this is a sign of growing up, lol!! Since I have left the restaurant there, CityWalk has opened a steam punk themed restaurant called Toothsome Chocolate Emporium based around the idea of a dessert and chocolate! It was delicious! The theme is carried out well throughout the entirety of the venue, food was e...

One of Thirty-One: Be Still

The basis of life comes from scripture, may we not lose sight of our beginning-a tidbit from myself Being raised in the South, Sunday was a day for early mornings, hymns, choir robes, communion, bible stories, donuts (yes, we all loved and still love those powdered sugar and jelly donuts!),and of course, the huge lunches that usually followed. We were raised to say amen and hallelujah, to always stand during song and keep our eyes closed during prayer. Even when we had no interest or idea what the preaching was about, we still knew when to be quiet. The older I get, I swear the feistier I become. I don't know where in the world it comes from, I've always had the southern sass down pat! And the punishments to prove it, not that they ever did any good, sorry mama!! With the world playing Pokemon Go! and society relying on a vote in November, I miss the days before smart phones and social media. I have decided that I will use August as a month to blog the biblical basics! In S...
